Operations & Assets 16 | 13TH - 19TH MAY 2016 | UTILITY WEEK High viz Wind turbine manufacturer Norvento has unveiled a re-engineered model of its nED100 turbine incorporating innovations that both increase its effi- ciency and reduce its generation costs. The new 100kW unit's direct drive permanent magnet generator is now lighter and more compact, tailored to the operational demands of the UK climate. While maintaining the high performance of the original, it uses a more traditional nacelle design and the generator is placed immediately behind the rotor, with a smaller sha. In addition, the optional new 12m blade design, optimised for Class III low wind conditions, eliminates the extenders that were deployed on the Light wind
