In this special supplement we reveal the UK's top contractors based on turnover, net margin, return on capital, sales per employee, operating margin and more. The 30 largest companies by turnover with a water industry focus are included and pro€ led – ranging from some of the country's construction giants and multinational infrastructure names to smaller players which are forging success from their specialist knowledge and expertise. The € gures listed in each case are taken from the last available set of accounts made available at Companies House. It's been an eventful year in the world of water contracting, with some notable mergers and acquisition activity, the insolvency of a major contractor (Carillion) and the prospect of new business soon to be up for grabs as we approach the 2019 price review and AMP7. However, most of the companies highlighted in the Leaders have navigated the uncertain- ties with aplomb, and with innovation and collaboration as their watchwords, can look forward to a bright future.
