Nuts & Bolts Sourcing products, solutions and services Titan Enterprises has built an ultrasonic water meter technology demonstrator using its Atrato flowmeter as a platform. The new device WPL Miranda RBC makes UK wastewater debut Wastewater treatment specialist WPL has brought a highly efficient rotating biological contactor (RBC) to the UK municipal market for the first time - the WPL Miranda RBC. Disks are connected to a sha and slowly rotated by means of a motor; each rotating disc spends 40% of its time in the Experts at Polypipe, the UK's leading manufacturer of plastic sustainable drainage and water management products, have designed a bespoke drainage system for David Wilson Homes' Flame spectrometer provides next generation flexible sensing Ocean Optics has launched a spectrometer line that combines decades of miniature spectrometer design expertise with industry-leading manufacturing techniques. The Flame spectrometer delivers high thermal stability and low unit to unit variation without compromising the flexibility and configurability that are the hallmark of modular, miniature spectrometers. Features such as interchangeable slits, indicator LEDs and simpler device connectors provide great flexibility for a wide range of UV-Vis applications in the lab or field. It is fully configurable across the 190-1100 nm wavelength range for use in absorbance, transmission, reflectance, irradiance and colour applications. www.OceanOptics.com WaterLOG Releases 'Downward-Looking' Nile Series Radar Water Level Sensors High accuracy, simple SDI-12 communication and advanced design, are just a few features of the new WaterLOG Nile Series (Nile 502, Nile 504, Nile 517) radar water level sensors, released by WaterLOG – a xylem brand. The Nile series operates based on the time-of-flight method. Radar impulses are emitted by an antenna, reflected off the product (water surface) and received again by the radar system. This provides the most precise measurement data in water level applications requiring non-contact transmission. www.waterlog.com/nile www.wwtonline.co.uk | WWT | APRIL 2015 | 43 Ultrasonic Water Meter Technology Shows Promise wastewater and 60% in contact with air. Repetitive rotation allows the discs to accumulate micro-organisms, which use the available oxygen to convert the pollutants in the wastewater into carbon dioxide and water. www.wpl.co.uk easily satisfies all the required water industry performance standards and fits within the 110mm desirable mounting length. The world domestic water meter market is estimated to reach over 30 million units this year. The majority of these will be "smart" meters requiring power to operate. The sub-meter and heat transfer markets are reported as being the fastest growth sector. Titan has built and trialled a 110mm long, half inch bore, water meter and achieved an accuracy better than ±2% over a 250:1 flow range using an external power supply. www.flowmeters.co.uk Polypipe Helps Mammoth Project Hold Water new development Ashcro Place, in Thundersley, Essex. Polystorm-R modular cells, Ridgistorm-XL large diameter pipe and a Hydrobrake flow control unit were all utilised on the site to form a number of attenuation tanks to store surface water and then gradually release it back into the sewer system. A total of 2,790 Polystorm-R Cells were used to create 5 separate attenuation tanks for the site, with a combined capacity to store up to 558m³ of stormwater. www.polypipe.com
