Trelleborg offers a new standard in inflatable pipe stoppers which enable a lighter, more flexible and safer use. The benefits of Trelleborg pipe plugs include improved position- ing of the reinforced material means a much lighter product, new design means tight manholes or 90˚ turns are no longer an issue and the new design and quality makes this new pipe plug safer to use. Teekay couplings used in 'Walkie Talkie' building Teekay pipe couplings have been used by Fitzpatick Mechanical Services as each pump. The range offers many benefits including increasing the speed from 2,900rpm to 3,600rpm, and the introduction of energy efficient permanent magnet motors for many models. Additionally, the speed controlled cascade ensures large energy savings compared to traditional booster systems. With a compact design, sets are available as two, three and four pump systems. Complete with tried and tested Multi-E technology, they offer true multi-master functionality, pipe system protection and application flexibility as well offering the connectivity capability to all major field bus systems. This means that the new Multi-E family will be suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial projects and with their improved efficiencies and functionalities this range is engineered to consistently deliver against expectation. www. grundfos.com Tel: 01525 850000 The company offers free nationwide, next-day delivery and collection. Inflatable pipe stoppers and bypass bags from Trelleborg are an optimum solution for achieving quick and reliable sealing of drainage channels, pipework and sewers, enabling inspection, maintenance or repair work to be carried out. A range of sizes are available to suit pipework in all applica- tions from 40mm drainage channels through to 2,400mm sewers. The company said that inflatable pipe stoppers enable the complete blanking of pipework, while bypass bags seal the pipework, and in conjunction with a suitable pump, will bypass the working area. www. marispumps.com/trelleborg Tel: 01246 201111 part of the drainage package at 20 Fenchurch Street − The Walkie Talkie − in London EC3. The couplings were used for key connections on cast iron, galvanized steel and copper pipework. This involved joining pipework of different pipe OD sizes. The Teekay Stepped pipe coupling was selected for its proven reliability and excellent reputation within the industry. Teekay supplied couplings and flange adaptors that were made bespoke for the project. www. teekaycouplings.com Tel: 01908 318175 Dual Cell analyses Modern Water has launched the OVA7000 Dual Cell, a new product which is part of its popular trace metal analyser product portfolio. The OVA7000 Dual Cell has been designed to extend the range of detectable metals to up to ten in a single unit and offers 24-hour monitoring of three to six sample streams, both of which represent great advances on existing technology. The new analyser uses voltammetry to detect metals in liquid applications. It can be used to detect contaminants in rivers, lakes, groundwater and the sea; to monitor process and drinking water quality; and industrial and municipal wastewater discharges. Modern Water's OVA products have proven to offer cost- effective, accurate and real-time solutions to trace metals monitoring in a range of environments and applications across the world. A significant advantage of the new monitor is that it has two analytical cells and each can be fitted with a different electrode whilst sharing the one pre- treatment unit. Voltammetry methods often require different electrodes in order to optimise the detection of a specific metal. By having a single unit with two electrodes, the Dual Cell allows combinations of metals that would previously have required two separate instruments. The OVA7000 Dual Cell has been designed with full consideration of the needs and demands of the market, and provides greater flexibility of the variety of metals that can be detected in a single unit. www. modernwater.com Tel: 01483 696000 Reducing spillage risk by using drum pumps Transferring liquids from small drums, buckets and carboys using hand-operated, manual pumps can be a time-consuming and messy process, even if correct procedures are followed. An easier, safer and more efficient method is by using light and compact motor driven drum pumps like Finish Thompson EF Series drum pumps. Available through pumping specialist Michael Smith Engineers (MSE), the EF series of seal-less drum pumps are acknowledged as being the most competitively priced and highest quality powered drum pumps in their class. They are ideal for light to medium duty, transferring oils, detergents and other similar liquids at flow rates up to 64l/min at discharge pressures up to 6.1m. In contrast to hand-operated pumps Finish Thompson drum pumps enable precise amounts of liquid to be transferred to smaller containers with less risk of spillage and also help to eliminate the handling problems associated with heavy containers. Tube length options start from 40 cm for smaller containers, also 70cm, 100cm and 120cm for most popular sized drums and 140 cm for larger IBC's and carboys which typically hold volumes up to 1,250l. The pumps have motors which are interchangeable with any tube selection and are offered in a choice of construction materials of polypropylene and pure polypro/ pure PVDF. For more challenging applications, such as transferring corrosive liquids, the EFS stainless steel option is available. www. michael-smith-engineers.co.uk Tel: 01246 201111 Warning kit for hazards E2S, which specialises in the design and manufacture of high performance audible and visual signals and control devices for hazardous areas, industrial environments and wide area disaster warning applications, has a new 384-page catalogue available. However with the AUMA range of actuators, the unit is completely modular and also has a removable electrical connector. This means that the plug, display and motor drive unit orientation can be determined on site to accommodate the constraints of the specific installation. With 64 different ways to configure the product, the easiest cable routing can be selected and the display / controls can be orientated to be read horizontally, irrespective of the direction of the valve drive shaft. In addition, the electrical control head can be mounted up to 100m away from the valve and motor drive unit by using a simple umbilical arrangement. Also, the ability to simply plug in the actuator on-site means that electrical and mechanical 'trades' are separated simplifying on-site work and contractor scheduling. The plug can be supplied separately and ahead of the actuator for pre-wiring.deliver against expectation. www. auma.co.uk Tel: 01275 871141
